United Church of Christ and Me
I am still amazed that the United Church of Christ is giving cover to
Trinity for preaching Black Liberation Theology and the racism that
accompanies this world view. I pray that my denomination will wake up to the reality that Black Liberation Theology is not what Jesus was preaching.
This being said, there is no room in my personal theology for racism. I joined the United Church of Christ about 15 years ago, because the denomination is inclusive and is a "House of worship for all people". A basic belief of the United Church of Christ is that the disenfranchised and the lost are welcomed, just like Jesus welcomes all of us. We come as we are to Jesus. Hopefully, Jesus can help Trinity return to a gospel of good news and love for all people. Amen.
