Iraq is safer than Obama's Chicago

I hear these stats all the time- I lived in LA for over 35 years and have never heard a gunshot outside of a range or going hunting. I even worked in Compton for 5 years and missed the LASD shoot out with a suspect. Even the LA freeway sniper missed me. LOL But I still would rather be in Chicago then Iraq.

I think that the 60,000+ Iraqi deaths on top of the 4,000 military personnel lost says you're wrong about Iraq being safer. In fact, I have to say that I personally would much rather risk being taken out by a random driveby shot from a gangbanger than being blown up by a suicide bomber.
Z - You do not want to be walking down any street in downtown LA after dark today. Gangsters and dope heads are everywhere.

I agree that being in Iraq is not somewhere I would want to be today. I would venture to say that most Iraqis would rather be in Chicago today than in Iraq.

Maybe they could all go to the University of Chicago and take a class will Bill Ayers. I am sure Bill could relate to a society built on the idea of bombing.
I - You make a good point. On the other hand, many of the Iraqis killed were terrorist trying to kill American soldiers. Nonetheless, It is a sad day when a Republican President wasted American soldiers on "Nation Building. Good gosh, what was Bush thinking. Patrolling Baghdad for the next decade is absurd.
I would take the bus to Staples Center and back to Carson in 2000. I had to wait to transfer to another bus late at night after a Clippers game- in Watts. No one ever bothered me. Although a ho asked me if I wanted a date. ;)
Bush has no reason to care about the lives of soldiers being wasted. They're nothing more than a tool for him to use to achieve his ends. He and his people got exactly what they wanted out of Iraq. Now Iraq and the rest of us get to spend the next three years or one hundred paying for it.

And before someone says it, no. There's far more to it than just oil.
Z - Gosh, a handsome man like you should have got several dates riding a bus in Carson in 2000. Of course, you can move back and start riding a bus in Carson now. Side bar, I drove a bus for awhile in LA. Let me tell you the things I saw.
I - You make a good point. Unfortunately, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Carter, Bush Sr., Clinton, Bush Jr. have all let the troops down over the years.

When I was in the military in 1968, it was obvious that politicians did not care about our troops much. Hopefully, Obama will have a better game plan than Bush.
If the war in Iraq was about the oil perhaps we would have gotten something tangible out of this war.
Z - You are right on target.
Something tangible? We got a brand-spanking-new democracy that loves the United States, didn't we? Right, Iraq?

Right?

... :(
For what it cost the US we should get the right to pump all the oil we need until the cost of the war is covered. Don't get me started - the European countries that we saved in WW1 & WW2 and the Marshall Plan owe us big time. ;)
I - you say

Something tangible? We got a brand-spanking-new democracy that loves the United States, didn't we? Right, Iraq?

Right?

I say-

I wonder if the cost is worth it. And, how long will it stand in the Middle East. After we leave, how long will the fragile democracy last. I wish we had created a lasting democracy, but I doubt it.

Z - You make two good points. Firstly, we should be pumping oil out of Iraq to pay us for our efforts in that God forsaken land. If I remember right, President Bush said at the start of this Nation Building exercise that it would not cost us anything, because we would use the oil revenue to pay our expenses.

Secondly, The Europeans have a short memory regarding our support for them during W W I W W II and during the cold war. Now, they have turned their backs on us.

We need to cut off our foreign aid to them, withdraw from NATO, and tell the UN to move to Bolivia. We should have cut off all our support for the UN a long time ago. The UN is a goofy organization of no nothing political hacks.
Wecome to the Libertarian Party Timothy!
Z - We need some new ideas about governing.
Perhaps we could give the US Constitution a try?
Z - I am with you. Unfortunately, no one in Washington reads the constitution.
