There is a tantalizing new tidbit in the speculation over who will be John McCain's vice presidential pick: Steve Clemons reports that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is speaking at a high-powered Republican gathering run by Grover Norquist this morning.
Why is this significant? According to Clemons' tipster: "Someone like Condi Rice doesn't go to Grover Norquist's den to talk about the Annapolis Middle East peace process. She's going to secure her future in Republican politics and to position herself as a 'potential' VP candidate on the McCain ticket."

Hasn't she declared unequivocally, the she has no interest in running for high office? Being a Republican, I think she meant it unlike Democrats like Hillary back when she was being sought out by the adoring press. Oh how the media monster turns.

Judge - Time will tell. She would make a good VP.

Judge, I seem to recall Dr Rice once saying, before she held her current office, that she had no interest in becoming Secretary of State. Things can change and I believe she is the sort of woman who will step up to the plate if her country needs her.

I hope she steps up, because the Republicans need a good VP.

I'll agree that the country needs her and it is my hope that she does it.
