Governor Schwarzenegger

The governor tried to correct this budget mess with California
propositions. Government employee unions and the voters rejected his
propositions to control the budget. Now, we have a mess. Our governor
does not even take a salary, because he believes in the State of
California. He is a real action hero in my eyes. He is trying to do
the right thing, but the career politicians in Sacramento will not
cooperate.
Governor Schwarzenegger used the term Girlie Men in reference to politicians who could not stand and do the right thing. He caught some heat over this remark, but pressed on. Our governor can be entertaining sometimes. Now, it is time to get down to business on the budget.A few years back, the governor called reluctant politicians Girlie Men.
The term was first used by Schwarzenegger in the 1988 Presidential election, accompanied by then Vice President George H.W. Bush. He was shown attacking Bush's opponents, saying “They all look like a bunch of girlie men, right?" He repeated it in the 1992 election, then campaigning for President Bush, again applying it to the Democratic candidates, as seen in the documentary Feed (1992) by Kevin Rafferty and James Ridgeway. He used the phrase again on July 17, 2004, where he stated "[i]f they don't have the guts to come up here in front of you and say, 'I don't want to represent you, I want to represent those special interests, the unions, the trial lawyers ...' if they don't have the guts, I call them girlie men."[2] He would use the term twice in the speech.
